Max Blair "Doubles Up" in Return to Tri-City Raceway Park

August 1, 2015
Franklin, PA

It was definitely a great night for racing at the Tri-City Raceway Park as local favorite Max Blair scored two hugely popular wins in both Super Late Model and RUSH Pro-Late Model action.  "Slowride" David Scott claimed the E-Mod victory and Brent Johnson picked up the Pro-Stock win in Saturday Night Shoot Out action at the Venango County oval.

The 25 lap Super Late Model main event may have been the final feature of the evening but it was definitely the best as far as finishes go. Third generation driver Max Blair masterfully executed a last lap pass of his father Robbie to claim the win by several inches.

Robbie Blair led the first circuit of the Late Model finale, which saw the event's only caution flag fly on the first circuit when Matt Urban slowed in turn two.  Urban retired to the pit area and Blair continued to dominate the event as the laps quickly ticked off.  Matt Lux, Max Blair, Darrell Bossard, Greg Oakes and Chris Hackett kept things interesting as they swapped positions two through six.  Max Blair took over the runner-up spot on the 16th circuit and set his sights on his father.

The final nine laps saw Max quickly run down his father before making a dramatic pass using the top groove of turn four.  At the checked flag it was Max taking the win over father Robbie Blair with Lux, Oaks and Bossard following.  Northern Tier competitors Hackett, Dutch Davies, Jason Dupont, John Lobb and Bobby Rohrer completed the top ten.

Super Late Model heat wins went to Hackett and Dutch Davies.

Matt Latta grabbed the lead at the start of the RUSH Pro-Late Model feature event with Damian Bidwell, Steve Hollabaugh, Max Blair and Russ Byler battling for positions two through five. Alan Dellinger, who started in the 13th position, worked his way to the sixth spot by lap eight.

The caution waved on lap ten when Mark Tatalovic stopped on the backstretch.  The caution gave Blair the break he need as he quickly took over the top spot when the racing action resumed.  Two more late race cautions gave Latta the opportunity to try and retake the lead but he was unable to do so.  Blair went on to score the win over Bidwell, Latta, Dellinger and Darrell Bossard.  David Lyons,  Jason Genco, Ward Schell, Kyle Scott and Ryan Scott completed the top ten.

RUSH Pro-Late Model prelims went to Oakes, in the Pat Willar owned #39, Lyons and Max Blair.
